Playing God

A man is guilty of raping and murder, he is sentenced to death row. He is executed and the victim’s family has received closure and is at peace. Death sentence, although may bring peace to some, is not ethical. Even if someone committed the most atrocious of murders, no human being has the right to take away that person’s life. There is nothing that will ever give us humans the right to play God. Deciding when someone dies is nor our choice to make. Although it is socially accepted to execute a vicious criminal, one will ultimately have to answer to God, and He has giving us many pleasures and benefits, but never has a human being been blessed with the power to decide who gets to live another day. Having the means of ending a life does not justify the action of actually doing it. The way to bring about some good is not by killing a man, but by reforming him or secluding him. A life sentence should be preferred over execution; there are other punishments that are worse than a dying. The state does not have the right to take a life, no matter what the circumstance; we were not created by God to kill each other. The state can help society by other means. The death penalty, as has been proven, does not necessarily mean that crime will lower in the country or state applying it. There are other means, as well, that can be used to reach the goal of the death penalty, which is to inspire fear in criminals. It is only right that the power to judge a life falls on God and no other.

  1. You are a utalitarian, you are suppose to go for death penalty. Why would you not consider killing criminals moral? They haven't done any good for society.

  2. I agree with you, death penalty is not the solution. "By all means let's be open-minded, but not so open-minded that our brains drop out." This is why we have to regulate what we impose in society as a solution to our problems

  3. I also agrre that death penalty is not the right decision neither ethical. we dont have the righ to kill other people, if the criminal kill a person, well sooner or later God will punish him, but we dont have to be unethical and kill them before God do his work, as a song says "what goes around, comes around" you only have to be patient!
