Undestanding Stoicism

Stoicism, which means unemotional, was a school of Greco/Roman philosophy originated in Athens created by a man called Zeno of Citium in the early third century before Christ. They considered harsh emotions to be the product of errors in decisions person of high moral standards would steer clear of this emotions. Keeping your cool on hard situations and always avoiding rushes of unnecessary emotional stress”. Stoics were fretful with the dynamic relationship between human cognition and freedom, and the belief that it is good to maintain a good will that is in the good side with nature; In other words, good Karma. Because of this, stoicism became a way of life; a human was worth by his actions and not his words. This philosophy and way of life was preferred by the higher classes. Pauper and peasant where as always, kept close behind but with a distance.

Stoicism is a decent philosophy when it regards living life from day to day. Having huge emotional episodes is certainly harmful to any individual and stress gnaws a healthy man’s health just as a rat does to cheese. In present day, stoicism has had a revival. The acquisition of Facebook had helped form tightly knit groups of followers that present similar ideas and expressions.
