“Cloning may be good and it may be bad. Probably it's a bit of both. The question must not be greeted with reflex hysteria but decided quietly, soberly and on its own merits. We need less emotion and more thought.”
Cloning has always been undermined by the skepticism of the world caused by religion. Most people immediately consider cloning an insult to their God because we are seeking to be like him. Human beings have always considered themselves as the created instead of viewing themselves as creators. Religion has always intended to stop human progress and label any person who promotes new ideals as evil and a threat. Cloning can lead to many benefits to people who were born with disabilities. At the same time cloning can be harmful in the long term because people will live longer, which will cause more global warming, more food demand, poverty and more social problems. It is important to think about cloning and not regard our decision on what we feel towards it. However, with the right management it can cure many diseases that are killing a lot of people like AIDS and even help us eliminate any kind of impediment. Cloning will never be accepted until religion becomes irrelevant or until we realize that our fate is not determined by “God”, but instead by the decisions we make.
I agree with you when talking about religion stoping human progress since they think God is the only creater. We should incinerate believers.
